This is one of those myths from long ago that most young people have probably never even heard of. Some old timers may have heard, and may still believe, that revving your car before putting it to rest at night is a good idea. This comes from an old and incorrect adage that carburetors had a “float bowl” that would fill with gas if the engine was revved making it easier to start the car the next morning.
The truth of the matter is that the float bowl, in the old cars that have carburetors, is always full of gas, and revving it does little more than annoy your neighbors! If you have an old car, we’d love to help you keep it maintained as they are a joy to look at and even more of a joy to drive.
