Jeeps In New York City

It is an interesting and amusing fact. New York City may be the Jeep capital of the world!

Even though there are few opportunities (OK, almost none!) for off-roading in the city, there seems to be a huge appeal for the off the road, big wheeled vehicles. I’m not exactly sure why but one theory is that they are really good at ignoring all those legendary pot holes that show up everywhere in Manhattan.

If you go back to the 30s and 40s, during the war, the average amount of time a military Jeep would be in service was an astounding – sixty days! I highly doubt the service men and women who rode in those early Jeeps would think that a banker in midtown Manhattan would be cruising down the boulevards in one on a weekend.

If you own a Jeep or any other vehicle, come in and have the wipers looked at, the winter salt can really do a number on them!
