What Does “Sport Mode” Mean On My Car?

Many vehicles today come with a little switch on the dashboard that reads “Sport Mode.” However, almost nobody actually knows what it does! Well, you’ve come to the right party and we will tell you.

Basically, Sport Mode gives you a little bit more power, and even more the “feeling” of power. How does it do this? By raising the shift points of your car’s automatic transmission. Let’s say your car is programmed to shift into second gear a 2200 RPM. It may shift into second gear at 2800 RPM if the Sport Mode is engaged. By keeping the car in gear just a bit longer, you get that revved up feeling and the sound that goes along with it. There ya go! Sport Mode explained!
